Why does my Intel Core i7-7700 that does have the TPM chipset not qualify for Windows eleven?

Why does my Intel Core i7-7700 that does have the TPM chipset not qualify for Windows 11?

MY fully divers processor type is as follows:
Intel(R) Cadre(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.lx GHz.

According to the published Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements and tables, this CPU should be adequate. However, Windows PC Wellness Check is flagging this CPU as not qualifying. Please advise.
Cheers

The vbs (virtual software) Microsoft couldn't notice a mode around information technology to brand information technology piece of work with win11. Which some people use with their Virtual Hardware and some similar myself don't fifty-fifty utilize and it'due south turned off. It should be plausible to work for win11 even with a built pc. I have the same intel core i7-7700 along with 1060 graphics, strix z270f gaming motherboard. TPM 2.0 turned on which is built into processor and Asus has intergrated their motherboard to run win11 also as graphics carte du jour. So like everyone says Microsoft is pushing everyone to buy new computers. With chip shortage prices are way upward and similar many of u.s.a. really can't afford the new pcs. I say wait it out and see if Microsoft gives in and finds a way for the vbs to work with win 11.

In my understanding, the Software and the hardware manufacture have always walked holding hands. A software update, like windows 11 "requires" new hardware or y'all demand to take this spec to run this software kind of matter. Not sure though how this helps with the lack of fries for computers and not merely around the world.

I accept a windows ten alienware laptop with a 7th gen i7 7700HQ WITH TPM ii.0. There is no reason why my laptop cannot upgrade to Windows 11. It should fully support it. Not to mention the processor is the merely reason information technology wont let me upgrade according to microsoft.

did you check for bios update?

It isn't as if it tin't piece of work on an i7-7700. I had the Insider Preview running on my box for a couple of months. At that place were some things I didn't like and so I formatted and reinstalled Win 10. I just ran the compatibility checker and it says not compatible now considering if my 7700

Having same problem,my CPU is in the list but my health bank check tells me it is not compatible, everthing else checks out ok.

I as well have a desktop i7-7700k with 64GB RAM and 2TB SSD on a Gigabyte MB with TMP 2.0 enabled so should be able to run Win11.

The virtualisation systems VBS has never been used on my system, nor will it exist.

I've added feedback to the MS system to ask why the i7-7700 is non supported, so if you want to share and upvote the link it might help us all?

My i7 laptop upgraded to Win11 without issue, 32GB HP Omen fifteen.

Hi there,

You lot need a minimum eighth generation processor for Windows eleven. You lot tin check the below link for the supported Intel processor.

OEMs may use the post-obit CPUs for new Windows eleven devices. New Windows 11 devices must use modern device drivers which accept passed the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program for Windows 11 or the latest available modern device drivers based on Declarative, Componentized, Hardware Support Apps (DCH) design principles.

That is really non an answer at all.
The question is equally follows:

The problem many are having is that they have, co-ordinate to this list
a supported processor, simply tin't upgrade because of the software saying
the only thing keeping them from upgrading is the processor and nothing else.

I have a newer I7-7700 quad cadre processor that is definitely on the supported processor list they provide.

Why does their compatibility program say it is not???????????????

Looking at the list again is no aid.

I recall their compatibility app is defective.

It is not but eighth gen and newer. Their own list allows for i7-7800 processors.

Exactly!! and more than 110 i7 models compatible.

I also take a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz three.sixty GHz. I've verified my TPM is version 2.0 and "prepare for use"
.However, my CPU is not compatible with w11. Farther, Intel seventh generation CPUs i7-7800X, i7-7820HQ, and i7-7820X are on the compatible listing. The i7-7700 must accept been very popular to accept Intel exclude it from the MS W11compatibility list?

I checked the list and i7-7700 CPU is in the list, what I have found is that when you go to another site you get unlike results.

Co-ordinate my Windows Security Details tape, I am running with TPM 2.0.

I accept a system with Core i7-7700 together with activated secure boot and TPM two.0 and it runs fine. I meet no technical reason why Windows eleven wouldn´t run on it. But according to requirements, it seems that there must exist a huge difference betwixt the viii. generation and the 7. generation of Intel processors.

No one seems to respond the question of WHY.

Yes, we know that I7-7700 is not listed as compatible. BUT WHY it is non listed? It has all functional/security requirements and has enough computing power to run. Fun fact, some older Surface with the same gen7 processor is compatible.

WHY I7-7700 is not on the uniform listing?
Exactly in what style that make the ship incompatible?

I have the verbal aforementioned processor and accept asked myself the aforementioned question.
Apparently information technology has to do with VBS (hardware virtualization). In that location are some specific set of features which are not existent in 7th gen Intel processors.

This mail service on reddit gives a better explanation on why it is non supported.

Considering this is an effort to force yous to buy a NEW motorcar. There is no other possible reason.

I'm in the same situation and also i don't know why ,the only matter i know is that upgrading to a highter processor is very expensive.

More than bullshit from Microsoft, I am an Insider and it says the same affair.

I accept the same problem. A pc with only 3 years old and an i7-7700 cpu@3.60GHz. A 2,000 euro pc!! It didn't laissez passer either.
Shame what Microsoft is trying to do. In my opinion it'southward just to "force" people to buy new computers or processors.
There are already videos on youtube where people went effectually Microsoft and installed Windows eleven on an obsolete pc, and they work without error. So an i7-7700 doesn't pass, it'due south at to the lowest degree an chestnut. I sincerely promise that good feeling prevails and Microsoft revises the list.

Please use the Microsoft Feedback hub:

Windows 10 tin can be utilise for at least ii more years with full back up.

There is non immediate requirement to have Windows eleven.

In case you want to install Windows eleven it can be installed either in a supported or unsupported fashion.

For those that have computer where the windows update agent fails Windows 11 can be installed by:

a) modifying the registry and other files so that the update agent does non recognize the failures to have supported CPU, TPM, Drive, BIOS, Secure Boot, etc.

b) backing up important files to another disk bulldoze or the cloud followed by clean install and restoration of the important files

Those that install Windows 11 in the unsupported mode may not benefit from increased performance and security.

And Windows or Microsoft Defender may be problematic as the installation was unsupported.

The are multiple websites where end users have installed Windows 11 on very quondam hardware.
This includes desktops, laptops, and tablets.
And multiple websites reported that both automated Windows and Microsoft Defender updates were successful.

FYI - TPM is non a part of a CPU. It is a separate fleck on your motherboard.

Nice job, Microsoft! Force people to upgrade perfectly expert Intel hardware, in the midst of an unprecedented global chip shortage.

No official response provided past Microsoft provides whatever coherent explanation why Windows 11 cannot run on 7th-Gen Intel-based PCs, including higher-end PCs that are only a couple of years old. There are plenty of people who have washed workarounds and successfully installed Windows eleven on 7th-Generation Intel PCs. This is an entirely bogus decision, and a terrible 1 at that.

You accept many of the aforementioned idea that I accept. I was hoping MS would make Windows 11 work with the 7th gen chips.
What MS windows 11 compatible fries will work in the motherboard to replace the Intel Core i7-7700?
What is the price?
How long will MS have the free upgrade available for Windows 11?
I want to wait for the chip shortage to pass which may be a while.

The respond to the question of 'what would it toll to replace the Intel i7-7700 flake' is not equally simple as it start appears. There are several factors involved that get beyond the questions of availability of a suitable replacement bit and the toll of labor to perform the job.

Other considerations to factor in will probable include:
- the socket configuration of the female parent board that must exist matched to the new chip
- the rut bleed configuration of the motherboard; will it be sufficient to deal with the increased heat load that a new and potentially more than powerful chip might innovate
- along with the potential of BIOS upgrades and changes that might be required.

I take explored these factors with respect to my own motherboard. For me, the price to purchase and install an eighth generation Intel Core i7 bit is hovering effectually $300. But that does not factor in the questions surrounding heat transfer or BIOS upgrades. The but answers I have establish thus far to these questions have been summarized by 'just endeavor and encounter', which brings me back to ii of the earlier answers by other contributors; either to wait and see if Microsoft will soften their stance with respect to this chip that meets all other upgrade criteria, or to manually upgrade.

Windows 11 tin run on computers:

a) with very former hardware
b) without TPM
c) without Secure Boot
d) with BIOS Legacy
e) with drive partition MBR
etc.

These can be accomplished past:
a) modifying the registry and files then that the upgrade assistant does not recognize any problems with screened parameters
b) performing a clean install

All of the above are unsupported installations of Windows 11.

TPM tin can be in firmware instead of carve up chip.
Some computer manufacturers may take TPM upgrades:
https://world wide web.dell.com/back up/kbdoc/en-ca/000103639/how-to-troubleshoot-and-resolve-common-problems-with-tpm-and-bitlocker

Microsoft Windows Insiders computers were evaluated for crashes.
The CPU selected past Microsoft had greater than a 99% crash costless rate.

Here is my 2c worth,

Looking at some of the the oldest Intel Processors on the Windows 11 supported Processors list, there seems to be a trend that processors before June 2022 are non supported, so is there really a technical issue here or just practise non want to check processors older than mid 2017.

Bank check out below, see the pattern?
Zip released before June 2022 is compatible with Windows 11
Did something really change in technology mid 2022 that means all processors earlier then are non compatible? I remember non

Examples:
Cadre i7-7800X, the oldest i7 on the list of supported processors -> release date June 2017, processors released before June 2022 are non in the Windows eleven Supported Processors list
Core i3-8100, the oldest i3 on the listing of supported processors -> release engagement October 2017, processors released before June 2022 are not in the Windows 11 Supported Processors list
Core i5-8200Y the oldest i5 on the list of supported processors-> release date August 2018, the Cadre i5-7640X processor released in June 2022 is not in the list of Windows 11 supported processors
Core i9-7900X the oldest i9 on the list of supported processors-> release date June 2017
Pentium Solver N5000 the oldest Pentium on the list of supported processors-> release appointment December 2017, the 4415 processor released in June 2022 is not in the list of Windows 11 supported Processors
Celeron J4005 the oldest i9 on the list of supported processors-> release date December 2017, the 3930 processor released in June 2022 is not in the list of Window xi supported Processors
